Guided tour of the trail Canyon of the river Iranzu, with interpretation of flora, fauna, history of the Monastery, Mythology of the canyon and a tasting of organic salts with virgin olive oil, Idiazabal Cheeses, forest honeys and organic wines, organized by the Association Lands of Iranzu.
The Iranzu River Canyon is one of the most representative interpretive trails of Mediterranean Atlantic transition, being of great environmental value, due to the great variety of flora and fauna of the two climates that can be found in this canyon, from the holm oak and the Mediterranean gall oak to the wonderful beech and hairy oaks in the Atlantic.
This interpretive path in which despite its brief journey (4.4 km round trip), we can find elements of the geological history, the peculiarity of its fauna and flora, and the signs of the presence of the human being, intertwined in the environment so that they have configured this unique space that we are going to visit.
Along this route, in the framework of a natural landscape of singular beauty and full of history, we will discover a series of natural elements, interrelated with each other, that make up the whole of the canyon.
In this tour visitors will be able to delight themselves with the history of the Monastery of Irantzu, one of the most impressive monasteries of the Iberian Peninsula and that had great power especially in the medieval period, the great relation of the canyon with the Cistercian monks great connoisseurs of the channelling of water. Description
4.4km round trip/ 105m slope.
Linear path that begins next to the beautiful Monastery of Iranzu and that passes in slight ascent, for an area of pastures, oaks and impressive beech trees, that skirt the capricious forms that the river has been carving in the rock, its pools and its crystalline waters. It is located in the foothills of the Urbasa Andía Natural Park.
